Nursing Home Abuse
Nursing Home Abuse & Negligence in Oregon
Oregon’s nursing homes rank last or near last among the 50 states. Although nursing homes and assisted living facilities promise quality care, too often, they do not deliver quality care. As an Oregon Attorney, I’ve spoken with too many family members whose loved ones have been hurt and killed by nursing home negligence.
The truth?
Some Oregon nursing home owners cut corners to boost profits. They cut the budget for staff, which means too few staff, and lower quality of care. Even the most caring and responsible staff members cannot be in three places at one time. Then, staff has to cut corners, too, or explode in anger and resentment at the residents - your loved ones.
Call me. I will help you sort through your legal options when you or a loved one has suffered from the following:
Nursing home abuse
Physical abuse / assault
Verbal abuse
Neglect / negligence / malpractice
Falls
Dehydration / malnutrition
Bed sores
Medication errors
Wandering or leaving the facility
Death
Exploitation
Sexual
Financial fraud
If you want to get a start investigating even without a lawyer, here’s what you can do:
- Obtain ALL of the records on the resident / patient from the facility.
- Check with Oregon State Department of Human Services, Seniors And People with Disabilities Division. Call for an appointment to review the records on the nursing home. This way, you can find out who is the true owner of the facility and read other complaints about care. Sometimes, the authorities have already investigated your situation and fined the nursing home.
Call me, and, together, we obtain and study the paperwork to determine whether rights were violated and whether you should pursue a legal claim. 503-665-4234.
